SAR transferring freight trains to Al Ahsa: Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) is transferring freight trains to a new route in Al Ahsa Governorate, where they are expected to start operations on 28 January 2025, SPA reports. The new track at Al Ahsa will provide greater flexibility in the movement of freight between King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam and the dry port in Riyadh. The new track is part of the SAR-operated East Train network with a cargo train operating on a 556km line starting at King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam and ending in Riyadh.
