What we know: “The plane was landing, but it fell a few kilometres before the airport, skidded for several hundred meters, its wreckage caught a residential building,” a police official said. Although the house was slightly damaged and its infrastructure caught on fire, all 12 residents were safely evacuated.

Though there was no indication that this incident was the result of sabotage, German authorities have been investigating several fires caused by incendiary devices hidden inside parcels at a warehouse in Leipzig waiting to be delivered by DHL since earlier this year.

Airbus launched the second tranche of its share buyback programme with the firm set to uptaking 2.12 mn shares between 25 November and 24 January, according to a statement. The initiative, announced in September, looks to provide for future equity-based compensation plans and employee share ownership plan activities. The programme is slated to repurchase up to a maximum 10% of the firm’s issued share capital, as approved by the Airbus BOD in April, with an end date set at 31 May next year, says the statement. The first tranche of the initiative, which saw the uptake of just over 2 mn shares, was effectively completed in October.
