Swiss transport and logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel broke ground at its new e-commerce fulfillment and distribution center in Dubai South’s e-commerce zone EZDubai, according to a press release. The project is slated to be fully operational by 2Q 2025 and no financial details have been disclosed.
Background: Dubai South, Aldar, and Kuehne + Nagel inked an agreement to develop the facility last month. A statement at the time mentioned that the 23k sqm facility will provide third-party logistics services (3PL), goods handling services, office space, warehousing capabilities, and an amenities block. Dubai South and Aldar had formed a JV back in February to develop Grade A logistics facilities at Dubai South’s Logistics District.
Dubai South is picking up the pace: A slew of local and multinational firms have moved established logistics facilities at Dubai South in recent months. These include Hellmann Calipar Healthcare Logistics (HCHL) which inaugurated a new warehouse at the facility last month, Global logistics player JAS Middle East which broke ground on a Build to Suit (BTS) logistics hub in late April, as well as Dubai aerospace platform Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH) and UAE-based MRO outfit Tim Aerospace which broke ground on a new MRO hangar at Dubai South in March, among others.
