Milaha jumps on the eco-friendly train: Qatar Navigation (Milaha) has inked a long-term agreement with Asian Spirit Steamship Company (ASSC) to charter eco-friendly container ships with a 1.2k TEU capacity, a press release said. The length of the agreement and the financial details have been disclosed.

What we know: Under the agreement, Milaha will deploy two ships — the MV Spirit of Kolkata and MV Spirit of Chenna — on the Arabian Gulf and the Indian Subcontinent services. The chartered ships are expected to reap nearly 35% fuel savings and have a 40% greater capacity compared to other vessels. The ships are equipped with hybrid scrubbers that reduce particulate matter and black carbon emissions and reduce CO2 emissions by 40% compared to alternative tonnage.
