A 53-wagon Indian freight train traveled over 70 km without a driver crossing around five stations before it was stopped, BBC reported earlier this week. The freighter was moving at almost 100 km per hour from Jammu to Hoshiarpur District, Punjab carrying stone chips. The train stopped in Kathua for a change in crew, but began traveling down a slope on the railway tracks without the driver or his assistant, according to officials. The locomotive was finally stopped “after a railway official placed wood blocks on the tracks,” and no one was hurt in the incident, Press Trust of India reported.
