Jordan + Oman ink MoU to boost trade ties: Jordan’s Chamber of Commerce has signed an MoU with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to ramp up trade promotion efforts and strengthen economic ties, Jordan News Agency reports. Additional MoUs were also inked between members of the private sectors of both nations in the fields of supply and trade. The Jordanian Investment Ministry and Oman’s Trade, Industry, and Investment Promotion Ministry also signed an MoU to enhance investment cooperation.

SHIPPING + MARITIME-

A new shipping route linking Tunisa’s Sfax Port with Morocco, Libya, and Spain will launch in March, Morocco World News reports, citing a Tunisian Press Agency (TAP) report. Administrative and logistical preparations for the route are close to completion, spokesperson Malek Aloui told TAP. The route will shorten travel durations, with the trip from Sfax Port to Morocco taking four days and Spain taking six. Ships will depart from Sfax twice a month. Details including the shipping lines involved were not disclosed.

CUSTOMS-

Egypt’sworking to release strategic commodities stuck at customs: A plan is in the works to speed up the release of strategic goods stuck at Egyptian customs due to the country’s FX shortage, according to a statement earlier this week. Priority will be given to medicine, livestock fodder, and strategic food commodities including oil, wheat, and baby formula. The total value of these goods is estimated at USD 1.3 bn, according to the statement.

AVIATION-

Qatar links up with COCESNA: Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority has signed an MoU with the Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (COCESNA) to boost cooperation in civil aviation, according to a statement.The two sides aim to establish a framework for collaborating in air safety, air traffic management, civil aviation security, and navigation services. The two parties will exchange knowledge and expertise during bilateral training seminars, conferences, and workshops.
