Saudi TGA launches hydrogen taxi pilot and signs two MOUs: Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) has initiated a trial phase for the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles in the private taxi sector, according to a statement. The vehicles can reduce emissions and have a 350 km range with eight hours of operation capacity per day. TGA also signed two MOUs — one with Abdul Latif Jameel Company and another with Abdullah Hashim Company — to partner on sustainable transportation.
CARBON CREDITS-
Tadweeer wants to issue carbon credits: Saudi Arabia’s National Environment Recycling company (Tadweeer) has signed a partnership agreement with Net-Zero Company (COZ) to support the company in issuing carbon credits according to the required criteria and regulations, according to a Tadawul filing to Saudi Bourse. The agreement includes monitoring, reporting, and verification processes with service providers.
The company has other projects in the works: Tadweeer signed a USD 11.36 mn agreement with KSA-based firms Tebrak Trading & Contracting Company and Mounes Mohamed Alshayeb for Civil Construction for the development of e-waste repurposing plants in Saudi last year. It also launched an iron production facility expected to produce some 120k tons annually.
SOLAR-
Pearl + TotalEnergies partner on solar projects in UAE: UAE-based polyurethane insulation solutions company Pearl Group has partnered with TotalEnergies to install solar PV systems at three of its production facilities in Dubai, according to a press release published last week. The project, which includes the installation of 1.65k solar PV rooftop panels with a total capacity of 821 kilowatt-peak (KWp), is expected to produce 1.3 GWh of renewable energy annually. It will also offset some 560 tons of CO2 annually.
TotalEnergies has other solar projects around: The company partnered with Oman-based Sharqiyah Desalination Company SAOG, a JV between France’s Veolia and Oman’s National Power and Water Company, to build a 17 MW solar project to power its Sur desalination plant last year. It was also granted land by Iraq’s government to establish a 1 GW solar plant last year.
EVs-
AW Rostamani + Charge&Go to boost EV infrastructure: UAE’s AW Rostamani Group and e&’s subsidiary Charge&Go have partnered to accelerate the adoption of EVs across the UAE, according to a statement. The agreement aims to address the EVs range challenge by expanding and enhancing charging infrastructure. AWR will offer exclusive benefits to the ZEEKR EV owners, including access to Charge&Go’s extensive network of charging stations and its new 60kW DC Hyper-Fast Charger.
Rostamani is doing more: The company partnered with Geely’s EV brand Zeekr to launch its models in the country in February. The company is set to roll out the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr X in the UAE in March.
